This gives a rough idea of my route as far as California although the tracker was not active in some countries. Click on the image to view live tracking...
It's a pity that you are going only till Manali in India. That is the place from where the fun starts. I would advise you to enter India via Amritsar and through Pathankot go to Leh via Srinagar-Leh highway (just did it this September). From Leh you can take the Leh-Manali highway and come back via Manali.
I covered a lot of place during my 19 day trip with another rider including Zanskar valley, Batalik, Nubra valley (both sides), Pangong lake, Hanle among others. This was my second trip to Ladakh. You can check my FB albums (I wrote about the trip in descriptions).
Hi Steph Following your planning with interest. I see on your map you bypass NZ. If your time and financial budgets allow, you can fly to Queenstown from Sydney, Australia and we can help you out with a bike etc for a few days - does depend on time of year :-). All the best.
Hi Dave I am desperate to come to NZ but you guessed it, budget is the problem. This sounds like it could be a possibility though. I have a relative in Sydney so perhaps Rhonda could have a few days rest in his garage while I head over. Thank you. Lets keep in touch and see how things are looking as I get closer. It would be a shame to miss such a great opportunity.
Hi Steph & Dave Dave right you must try and ride in NZ, backpacker there in 1999 but want to go back to ride the country, fantastic place especially the south island. are you taking a sos tracker? good look with your trip cheers geoff
My wife and I have traveled far and wide and if there is one country we tell people to avoid, its Serbia. Now maybe things are different, but when we went there you had to but insurance at the border, tourists paid rip off road tolls and police rigged speed traps to extract money . Three of our group got ripped. Go straight from Romania into Bulgaria but look up the transfagasion road in Romania.
Thanks for that. I was planning on meeting someone in Belgrade but I will do some more research before I go there then and yes if need be I will avoid. Appreciated the heads up!
Things are *definitely* different here now in Serbia. I remember back in 2004, 5, around there, yeah, you had rigged speed traps and the border insurance was a hassle. Nowadays it couldn't be easier.
Hi there . . . somebody has already asked me if i can help with a place to stay in Bulgaria , but i don,t know if they passed my reply on to you . . . I am an English biker living near Mezdra in Bulgaria . . . I have a spare room with toilet and shower in my house , and secure parking for your bike . . . Ian g wildrover@op.pl
Hi Ian. Yes I have you on my contact list. Thanks so much. I fully intend on coming to you. Should be around 9th April. is that OK> My email is stephjeavons@gmail.com
It looks like you will not be coming to the Maritime Provinces in Canada. Too bad, if you change the route to include New Brunswick Canada you are welcome at our Home in Shediac. Good luck on this crazy trip, you are so lucky!
I see u will pass Indonesia, are you sure you not stop by? 1 island need 2 days minimum. and in Bali, you need at least 3 days to enjoy the island :D I have friends who have home stay in Ubud (eat pray love movie location) let me know if you need some help in Indonesia.
all the best for your journey from Stuttgart. If it is suitable for your trip planning come across and visit us. Food, shelter and fuel are waiting for you.
Serbia is fine. One of the safest places we have drove in. We drove right through it in our motorhome on the way to turkey. Food and beer is cheap as chips. Try serbsca salad ;)
we'd love to have you as you pass from idaho on south, thru Utah. We live in Pleasant Grove, Utah and would welcome you to our home. Depending on when you come thru, we could meet you out in the dirt somewhere with a trailer and our entire family of riders, and friends.
Hi Steph I am a Aussie living and working in Dubai UAE, my wife and I are Advriders with 2 X bmw F800gs, Summer here is May to end Sept and no one rides here then,to bloody hot 50+C If you come to Dubai email me. Cold beer, shower and a comfy bed, and small work shed with bike elevated ramp shane and alex
Hi Shane. Sorry for delay. Thanks so much for the offer. I have a place to stay in Dubai but if I get stuck I will give you shout. Really appreciate it. I will not be staying long. My plan is to arrange transport to India and head over there although I know it will be crazy in that heat! You can't get the best of weather all the way around though sadly so I will have to just get on with it I guess!
We all must choose our own paths and I think Asia has more appeal and challenges to me than Russia. I will be going to Africa but unless I get a lot more money I cannot go all the way around it. I think 7 continents and 40,000 miles on a 250 is enough for me for now. What will you be doing this year Alex?
Will you be coming down the coast in Turkey in Turkey or heading across country? We are near Kas on the med coast. You're welcome to stay over if you wish. http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/country/turkey/kas-antalya
Hi David. I will be coming down the west coast as far south as Kas and then I will start heading up to Antalia and Capadoccia. Would love a bed for the night you don't mind. Looks like a stunning place. Thank you. Not sure on my arrival date though. it will be around the 3rd May give or take a day or two. Would it matter when I arrived? Do you have an email I can contact you on when I am maybe a couple fo days away? Would that work?
Hi Steph. You can contact me at david.bird3@gmail.com Arrive when you like though a days notice would be good so that I can make sure the pooches have been fed :-) I've got a CRF250L too. I'm looking forward to seeing your set up. Enjoy the trip down the coast.
Hi Steph. Arrived here via Gary France (Flies in Your Teeth). Looks like a great adventure you have planned, and you will be right in our neighbourhood at one point (Just an hour west of Ottawa, Canada - about 1/2 way between Ottawa and Deep River.) If you need a bed or a meal just let me know (contact me through my blog at ontwowheels-eh.blogspot.com). At the very least perhaps we'd get to ride a bit as you pass through. Cheers and good luck!
Ah damn! Just passed there today! Just been catching up with messages and spotted you. What a shame! I'm now in Kas down the road and heading out on the rails tomorrow xxx
Hi Steph, If your plans include coming to Victoria, BC o n Vancouver Island (a ferry trip from Vancouver) just let us know! scootergal125@gmail.com. I'm sure Rhonda would be very comfortable in the garage with the Honda VFR and the Yamaha Majesty. Good luck on your travels!
Hi Steph, nice breakfast today in Yelken Cafe in Turgutreis with friends Melike & Nejat. We start tomorrow our cirkumnavigation with different boat. You can find ARIES DREAM present position via www.marine-traffic.com. Godd roads.
Hi Rene. Lovely to meet you. Have a wonderful time. I'm sure you will. I will keep an eye on your location and keep my fingers crossed that we meet for breakfast somewhere again. Take care and enjoy.
On your Canadian trip from the west too east if you are passing Through Castlegar on HWY 3 we will gladly put you up and cook you a hot meal. We are a woman's riding club here in the Kootenays BC Canada black Rose maidens Society. stefanieharron@me.com keep the sun in front of you and the rain behind you.
Hi Steph - I'm not your generation but was a biker in the 60's (Triumphs & BSA's) and a 'born-again' on a Harley in the 90's, but I admire your balls. I travelled the 'hippy trail' in '71 in a bus and loved Turkey which has now changed immensely and I see you are approaching the wilder parts. We went through Nigde and Goreme like you and then on to Erzerum (was a dump then) and Iran. Good luck. John Fletcher
Hey John. Good to hear from you. Sounds like you have a great story. Bet Iran was a very different place back then. Turkey is still a great place and full of kind people in my experience. I'll let you know how it goes in Iran. Thanks for getting in touchx
I'm in Kolkata and can offer you a place to stay. I'm a Brit with a bike here and was hoping to convince the Bhutanese gov't to let me in. If you want to go let's try it together!
hi dont know where you are now , biketracking dont work . i only see you want to be in august in ko samui. if you want to visit phuket ,you can use my workshop for a big maintanance. got air con ,lift and every tool you can think about plus a full room of xr/crf parts and tires

Hi Steph What about us in South West Africa (Namibia). We have the most beautiful country in the world. Friendliest people. Beautiful deserts, savanhas, mountains and we are the best Honda dealer in Africa... Pupkewitz Honda. You are more than welcome at us. Greetings. Jaco
Hi Steph, I am in the San Francisco Bay Area and the guest bedroom is always available for travelers. The man cave has plenty of goodies for m/c repair or service.
Steph, you need to come out to California, after you stop at at Lenehan's place in San Francisco we are about 3 hours north of San Francisco. You don't want to miss the Redwoods. My wife and I both ride. We have a Guest Bedroom.
Steph: Good on you. Keep on moving. When you get to the USA you may wish to consider the Trans America Trail (TAT). I covers the USA from the north west one leg from the central west) to the central east. It will have you avoiding paved roads and you will see lots of country. Once towards the east you can take the 219 north to Buffalo which will get you on your way to Scarborough ON. We have a group 'Horizons Unlimited motorcycles' web or facebook which are a great source for adventure riders Good Riding
Steph, if your travels across western Canada bring you through Winnipeg then we have a spare bedroom & garage at your disposal. I've been following your journey since it was first mentioned on ThumperTalk & wanted to let you know that you are an inspiration to all travellers. Anything is possible, even getting a CRF250L to Antarctica!
Hi Steph Can you send me your detailed plan on exl of your dates and how much time did you spend in a country, as i am also planing to do a world tour on my bike. I am from India
Hi Steph, If you ever need a hugh, a room or a helping hand from a fellow biker from central México, count on us at Tepoztlán, Morelos, located at the belly of the country, sourounded by beautiful landscape and nice trails around the Popocatepetl volcano. Ride safe.
